For many people today, Switzerland is the railway country par excellence. But how did the dense railway network come about?
In the guest exhibition in the Max Frisch Archive, the ETH Library uses old prints and maps to provide an insight into the early days of the Swiss railway system, which rapidly developed into a success story at the end of the 19th century and made a significant contribution to the economic upturn of the still young Confederation.
